Firstly, come to a Patient Information Evening.

The surgeons of the Centre for Bariatric Surgery (CBS) conduct these nearly every week. Click here to find out more about the seminars.

Please phone CBS on 03 9520 9520 and ask for the next available session or for one at a time that is most convenient to you. Bring along a family member or friend if you like. It is good to be able to chat afterwards about what happened and what was said.

At the Patient Information evening we will share with you information about the LAP BAND including the good things and the bad things. We provide this as honestly as possible so that you have good background of information upon which you can make a decision. We have some of our patients attend and they are happy to share their thoughts and experiences with you. We have one of our Nurse Coordinators there to tell you about what happens in hospital and for the first few weeks afterwards.

You must attend one of the Patient Information Evenings before you can see the surgeon but you can make the appointment before that night or on the evening itself or you can phone 03 9520 9520 after the evening and make the appointment.

They are the key to a safe and successful outcome. At that appointment the surgeon will explain the process from there. Typically, after a clinical review and discussion, a decision to proceed is made at that consultation, further assessments are organised and a date for the procedure is set. You are on your way to the solution to your problem of obesity.
