Physicians
Samantha Green MBBS FRACGP DRANZCOG
 Samantha Green is a general practitioner with an interest in the public health impact of obesity. She also enjoys assisting individual patients achieve long-term change that improves their health.
Samantha joined the Centre for Bariatric Surgery in 2009. She is a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners and has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Samantha will be one of the doctors at the Centre for Bariatric Surgery - Northern Clinic
Peter Baquie MBBS, FACSP
 Peter completed his General Practice training in Victoria and spent 12 years working as a general practitioner in South Gippsland. After returning to Melbourne in 1991, he has undertaken sports medicine work at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre including being team doctor at Carlton Football Club (AFL) for 3 years, team doctor for the Australian Men's Hockey Team between 1997 and 2004, team doctor for the Melbourne Storm National Rugby League Team in 2004 and since 2005 has been the team doctor for Hawthorn Football Club (AFL).
Dr Baquie has been with the Centre for Bariatric Surgery since 2004. His particular interests include musculoskeletal injuries associated with obesity and related management as a means to assist weight loss. He is currently working on a research project studying the effects of weight loss on knee pain in obese women.
Paul MacCartney MBBS, FACSP
 Dr Paul MacCartney MBBS FRACGP is a General Practitioner who has been working at the Centre since 2004 and assisting Mr Skinner in Lap Banding operations for seven years.
He also works as a GP in a Community Health Centre in Fitzroy and enjoys spending time with his young family.
Paul will be one of the doctors at the Centre for Bariatric Surgery - Northern Clinic
Linda Schachter MBBS, FRACP, PhD
 Linda is a respiratory and sleep medicine specialist. She joined the Centre for Bariatric Surgery in 1999, and also works in private practice and at Cabrini Malvern.
Linda has a long term research interest in the effects of obesity on lung function, asthma and sleep apnoea and the effects of weight loss on these conditions. She is a member of the Thoracic society of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Sleep Association, and Obesity Society of Australia and New Zealand.
 Kathryn De Garis MBBS (HONS) DRANZCOG
Dr Kathy De Garis is a general practitioner, having graduated from Monash University in 1979. She owns and runs the Brighton Family and Women's clinic, a large and busy family and women's orientated private general practice.
During her career she has been involved in general practice obstetrics, emergency department after hours care, and has been very active in the GP Divisions Network, being Chair of the Central Bayside Division of General Practice.
She has had a Lap-Band since 2005 and is now healthy and slim. Kathy became involved in Lap-Band follow-up care after her own Lap-Band procedure and tries to bring a holistic and emotionally aware approach to this work.
Outside of work, Kathy is a passionate sailor and choral singer.
 Dr Karina Stolyarsky MBBS FRACGP
Karina joined The Centre for Bariatric Surgery in 2008. Her interests include preventative health and women's and children’s health.
As well as CBS, Karina also works in general practice and is a surgical assistant in various places around Melbourne.
Dr John Wentworth MBBS PhD FRACP
 Dr John Wentworth is an endocrinologist who completed his intern training at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, before undertaking PhD studies into nuclear receptor biology at Cambridge University.
He returned to Australia to complete his physician training and is now based at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Royal Melbourne Hospital.
His research interests include the role of inflammation in obesity and the effect of Lap-Band surgery on diabetes.
 Friederike Veit MBBS MD FRACP
Friederike Veit is a specialist physician and clinician who is interested in adolescent health and wellbeing, obesity and its complications and general paediatrics.
Friederike joined the Centre for Bariatric Surgery in 2004 and also works at the Centre for adolescent health at the Royal Children’s Hospital and in private practice in Lilydale.
 Caroline Lloyd MBBS FRACGP
Caroline Lloyd has worked with the CBS since 2007, having previously worked in the fields of General Practice, Sexual Health and Cosmetic Dermatology. Since joining CBS she has developed an interest in the emotional causes of overeating and is currently studying Hypnosis to help Lap-Band patients with another tool in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
Outside of medicine, she has a strong interest in the Arts, property renovating and running around after her two smallish darlings.
 Audrey Kotzander MBBS FRACGP DRANZCOG
Audrey is a General Practitioner with a special interest in obesity surgery, assisting with surgical procedures, follow up advice and adjustments.
Audrey is a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners and has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
 Dr Anna Korin MBBS FACEM
Anna joined The Centre for Bariatric Surgery in1999 and is now a senior resource and mentor for new staff.
Anna is also an Emergency Physician and has an interest and involvement in medical education. She divides her time between The Centre for Bariatric Surgery, The Alfred Hospital Emergency Department and teaching at both Southern Health and The Alfred Simulation Centres.
Anna plans to continue in all three of her chosen medical fields, as well as spending quality time with her two young children.
